We're rolling along with our 2026 Club Team Preview series here on Prep Dig Iowa. The goal is highlighting as many teams as possible before we get the season underway next month. Then we'll shift to scouting reports and roundups from real matches.

The preseason process works best when directors get us rosters or point us to where they're posted on line. Requests for those are out. If you did not receive one (sometimes our contact information is outdated), you can send them to RobHoweHN@gmail.com.

One of the newer organizations in the state, the [program_tooltip program_id='706286' first='Salty' last='Volleyball Club'] is making people pay attention by building a brand with strong teams. Its growth highlights how healthy the sport is on the western side of the state. While student-athletes benefit from joining programs in Nebraska and South Dakota, Salty provides opportunities in Iowa.

Salty will field squads in four age groups for the 2026 club campaign. Teams will compete in the 14U, 15U, 17U and 18U divisions.

All of those groups should pose strong challenges to the opposition. The collection of talent in 17U, coach by Owen Hoegh, will be especially salty. (sorry, not sorry).

Four all-state performers from the 2025 high school season reside on the Salty 17U roster. MOC-Floyd Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='741261' first='Brielle' last='Hoegh'] earned third-team honors in Class 4A, [player_tooltip player_id='493982' first='Deidra' last='Doeden'] and [player_tooltip player_id='574225' first='Addy' last='Wolfswinkel'] of Cherokee Washington were named to the 3A second team and fourth team, respectively, and Boyden-Hull's [player_tooltip player_id='493978' first='Elsie' last='Hoegh'] was a third-teamer in 1A.

[player_tooltip player_id='741261' first='Brielle' last='Hoegh'] is playing up with Salty after leading the Dutchmen with 186 kills (.426), while adding 59.0 blocks. Doeden led Cherokee with 295 kills (.384) and 105.0 blocks, while Wolfswinkel's 232 kills (.249) ranked third for a Cherokee team that reached the state tournament. [player_tooltip player_id='493978' first='Elsie' last='Hoegh'] pounded out a team-best 391 kills for the Comets to go with a squad-leading 307 digs.

Salty also boasts a student-athlete that earned all-district laurels in 2025. Western Christian's [player_tooltip player_id='741262' first='Breslyn' last='Kooima'] was recognized in 3A after helping a Wolfpack team that won 38 matches reached the state semifinals. The junior came up with 487 digs.

Kooima will be joined on Salty by a pair of her Western Christian teammates. [player_tooltip player_id='741260' first='Hadley' last='Dekkers'] produced 155 digs as a defensive specialist for the Wolfpack. [player_tooltip player_id='767740' first='Maddyn' last='De Jager'], a 2028 playing up here, broke out as a sophomore this fall with 229 kills, 152 digs and 31.0 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='741264' first='Jorgia' last='Van De Berg'] and [player_tooltip player_id='809748' first='Lily' last='Vander Pol'] provide even more power at the pin for Salty 17U. Van De Berg was a key part of Sioux Center's run to the Class 4A state title match. The junior registered 98 kills, 29.0 blocks and 44 digs for the Warriors. Vander Pol was a key member of a MOC-Floyd Valley operation that won 21 matches in '25. The junior produced 168 kills (.218), 26.0 blocks and 48 digs.

Salty will challenge itself against a difficult schedule. Dates include the Big City Luau in Rochester (MN) in January, the President's Day Classic in Omaha, the Prep Dig Spikefest in the Twin Cities and the Iowa Regional Qualifier in March, and the Show Me National Qualifier in Kansas City in April.
