We've recently been fixated on all the fascinating storylines and star players from last weekend's Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Our last feature highlighted standout 2029s, offering a glimpse into the future trendsetters from Nebraska's freshman class. However, we can't forget about the steely veterans setting an example for everyone else.

The 17s bid race gave us more drama than we bargained for. Nebraska has a stacked group of 2027s, making this age group incredibly competitive at regional club venues. Then, you raise the stakes and put bids on the line. Last weekend's event had it all.

Let's meet a few seniors-to-be who seized the moment.

This is a perfect opportunity to address the do-everything attitude that Bails has brought to Premier Nebraska 17 Gold's lineup. The Papio South state champion has played on both pins throughout her decorated prep career. Bails's explosiveness and burst have worked wonders in the frontcourt against elite Class A foes. However, this multi-talented athlete has been willing to don the libero jersey for 17 Gold to boost the team's ball control and service pressure. Bails will also play any DS role across the back row, adding to her repertoire as a six-rotation asset. She is the ultimate wildcard and is ready to battle in GJNC's 17 National division.

Premier Nebraska 17 Gold has no shortage of options at the middle blocker spot. Bringing Gregg to the fold has cemented the position as a strength, especially after she hit at a nearly 0.300 clip with Elkhorn South last fall. 17 Gold looks to take full advantage of Gregg's trips across the frontcourt, and the GPR Bid Tournament gave further examples of this leadership. Gregg has the physicality, vision, and competitive drive to catalyze a big postseason breakthrough for her squad.

Wyzenski is fitting right in with the Club Legacy crew. Wyzenski has enjoyed an extraordinary run in Nebraska's prep spotlight, dating back to her junior tenure with Millard South. This savvy setter led the Patriots to a historic postseason berth, but that was just the beginning of Wyzenski's climb. She has a knack for operating 17 Alpha's precise, up-tempo offense that is ready-made for USAV Nationals success. Add another postseason berth to Wyzenski's ledger.

What more can we say about this Omaha Concordia outside hitter? Snyder has been an eye-catching terminator since she arrived on the prep scene as a freshman, and the accolades have kept rolling in since then. Club Legacy's 17 Alpha roster is a tight-knit group loaded with Mustang stars. Snyder remains the focal point of that group and exhibited her full range during last weekend's runner-up effort. Teams try to stop Snyder with aggressive service pressure, but this seasoned attacker can handle the workload. We're fortunate enough to have another prep campaign left with Snyder and her 2027 peers.

Premier Nebraska 17 Black reinvented itself at the setter spot this spring, and Johnson has been a major beneficiary. She has climbed the ladder to help guide the team's dynamic two-setter system. Prior seasons have revealed Johnson's willingness to pilot a 5-1 and square up against opposing left-side attackers. That skill set persists, but Johnson can also adapt to whatever lineup 17 Black deploys. Versatility will remain a storyline as Johnson's squad prepares for the 17 Freedom race in Indianapolis.

We're rolling through the standout setters. Our feature on surprise teams from the bid tournament alluded to Arnold's consistency and skill at the position. She is the stabilizing force for AVC 17 Blue, a scrappy group of central Nebraska gems that earned a fourth-place finish at last weekend's event. Arnold's outstanding prep tenure with Kearney has translated to further success on the club side, laying the foundation for more of the area's athletes to follow suit.

How about one more Kearney athlete for your consideration? Cochran has been a rock for her Kearney Elite group since we started honing in on the team last year. Her defensive skills have paved the way for 17 Black's frontcourt weapons to thrive, leading to plenty of highlight-worthy attacks. This is the kind of libero who doesn't need the flashy, head-turning plays to make a splash. Rather, Cochran makes tough plays look routine.
