About Finley

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high‑energy, high‑control back‑row leader who prioritizes first contact and defensive consistency. I’m aggressive in my reads, disciplined with my platform, and focused on keeping us in system under pressure. I communicate constantly, and set the tone defensively every rally. My game is built on reliability, intensity, and refusing to let momentum slip on my side of the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m intense, competitive, and extremely accountable, especially in high‑pressure moments. I expect a lot from myself and my teammates, and I’m not afraid to be vocal to keep standards high. At the same time, I stay composed and focused, so my energy lifts the team instead of distracting it. I bring confidence, resilience, and a next‑point mindset every rally.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Outside of volleyball, I also compete in track as a hurdler, which has helped shape my speed, and mental toughness. Track has taught me how to stay composed under pressure, recover quickly from mistakes, and stay aggressive through fatigue. The discipline and rhythm from track directly translate to my movement, defensive reads, and consistency.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership through being a vocal back‑row anchor, taking responsibility for communication, effort, and defensive organization. Teamwork is central to my game — I read hitters, cover seams, and adjust constantly to support my teammates and keep us in system. Competing in both volleyball and track has built discipline, resilience, and a high standard for preparation.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes — one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is balancing a high competitive standard across multiple sports. Competing in club and school volleyball while also training as a hurdler has tested my time management, physical resilience, and mental toughness. I’ve learned how to push through fatigue, respond quickly after mistakes, and stay locked in when expectations are high.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a competitive, high‑character culture where faith, accountability, and service are genuinely valued. Academics matter to me, and I’m looking for a school that challenges me to grow intellectually while competing at a high level. Most importantly, I want a place where I can contribute consistently, serve others, and continue developing as both an athlete and a person.
