The 5’11” setter from Southlake Carroll High School and MadFrog Volleyball Club is the type of player who instantly elevates everyone around her the moment she steps on the court. What stands out right away is her ability to command an offense with confidence well beyond her years, showing poise and control in every phase of the match. Mariel has a natural feel for tempo and rhythm, consistently delivering hittable balls to all zones while keeping blockers guessing. Her hands are clean and consistent, and the ball leaves her fingertips with precision and purpose every single time. She does a phenomenal job of squaring up to target and using her length to push the ball to the pins, even in out-of-system situations. Beyond the technical skill, her leadership presence is undeniable as she communicates effectively and keeps her team composed in high-pressure moments. This is evident as she has her club team as one of the best squads in the entire nation. Please help us congratulate her on earning her place among the top players in the state.

Mariel Elizondo Mariel Elizondo 5'11" | S Southlake Carroll | 2029 State TX established herself as one of the most athletic and polished setters in the 15s age group at the Tour of Texas Austin Stop. From the first whistle, her posture and body control stood out, as she consistently delivered sets with perfect balance and no visible “tells” that allowed defenses to cheat early. That discipline made it extremely difficult for opposing blockers to anticipate where the ball was going. Even in out-of-system situations, Elizondo showed a calm, composed presence, magically moving the ball to all of her hitters and keeping her offense unpredictable. Her footwork was clean and efficient, with no wasted steps as she tracked down passes and digs to create quality scoring opportunities. Technically, she is very advanced for her age, showing smooth hands, strong location, and excellent tempo control. Her leadership was evident as she guided her squad to an undefeated run throughout the tournament, consistently putting her teammates in positions to succeed. With this level of athleticism, volleyball IQ, and command of the game, Elizondo has the look of a future high-level setter and a strong candidate to be ranked near the top when the Prep Dig Texas State Rankings are released next month.

Miss Elizondo is currently an unranked prospect in the 2029 class according to our Texas State Rankings but that is only because we have not released them yet.  She is definitely someone who we are excited to watch in the showcase to analyze her skills and see where she ranks amongst her peers in this wonderful state.  What I like so far about her game is how clean the ball comes out of her hands.  They are perfect mirror images of each other before, during and after contact, which will make sure that her contacts are clean and her location is very repeatable.  Another aspect is how solid her posture looks while she is setting the ball.  She does not give defenders any “tells” where she will be going with the distribution location and that is going to lead to some great things for her hitters.  We will be watching her closely and you should as well.
