Prep Dig continued its partnership with USA Volleyball at the Salt Lake City National Qualifier Showcase, held at the Salt Palace Convention Center on April 24th. The event brought together athletes from across the nation looking to compete in front of college coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. Let's take a closer look at three players who earned Top Performer honors based on what they showed on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='571372' first='Violet' last='Dougherty'], a Class of 2028 outside hitter from Juanita High School in Kirkland and [program_tooltip program_id='476225' first='Spaceneedle' last='Volleyball Foundation'], currently ranked No. 46 overall in the Prep Dig Washington State Rankings, is exactly the kind of pin hitter that makes defensive coordinators rethink their coverage the moment she steps onto the court. At 5'10" she carries a heavy arm swing and the ability to terminate a point from either pin, which is a skill set that immediately separates her from players who are dangerous only in their primary role. She reads the block intelligently and adjusts her shot in real time rather than committing to one angle early, which tells you the volleyball IQ running behind that physical ability is genuinely advanced for her class. Her footwork in transition is clean and she consistently arrives at the ball in a strong hitting position rather than improvising on the fly, which is where a lot of young attackers lose efficiency. There is a competitive confidence to how she plays that shows up in the moments that matter most, because she does not shy away from the ball when the game is tight. Violet is a ranked prospect in her class with the tools and the mentality to climb considerably before her graduation year arrives. Please help us congratulate her on earning Top Performer honors at this showcase event.

Miss Shimada, a Class of 2028 setter from Cedar High School in Cedar City and Southern Utah Sports Academy, is a young distributor who already plays the position with a composure and feel that runs well ahead of where most setters are at this stage of their development. She brings solid physical dimensions to the role and has shown the ability to manipulate tempo rather than simply getting the ball to her hitters and hoping the outcome takes care of itself. Her footwork pattern getting to the ball is clean and she consistently delivers from a stable platform, which is the foundation that everything else a setter needs to develop gets built on top of. What stands out most is her ability to read the defense while she is setting rather than after the fact, allowing her to make decisions that create genuine mismatches rather than just distributing based on habit. Her court coaches mentioned her name to our scouts a few times throughout the evening and we agreed with their assessment. She processes the game quickly for her age and competes with a poise that makes the players around her more comfortable rather than putting pressure on them. Please help us congratulate her on earning Top Performer honors at this showcase event.

Sammie, a Class of 2029 libero from Vista del Lago High School in Folsom and OMNI Volleyball Club, is a back row competitor whose instincts and processing speed immediately stand out when you watch her navigate a competitive setting. Miss Campbell reads the court well ahead of contact and positions herself before most players her age have even finished tracking the serve, which is the single quality that separates reactive liberos from ones who actually control the back row. Her platform mechanics stay disciplined under pressure and she delivers passes with the kind of accuracy that keeps an offense running cleanly rather than forcing setters to work out of system on a regular basis. There is a toughness to how she plays defensively that goes beyond physical range because she competes for every single ball and does not concede rallies that are still winnable. For a 2029, the level of position-specific polish she plays with is genuinely ahead of schedule and that tells you the work being put in away from the gym is real. Sammie is a prospect worth putting on the board early before her class becomes a crowded conversation. Please help us congratulate her on earning Top Performer honors at this showcase event.

As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at Michael@prepdig.com. You can also DM me in Instagram and X by searching @CoachMikeDZ. Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends. Help us help them by simply retweeting on Twitter or sharing on Facebook. Thanks for following us, Prep Dig Family! Don't be afraid to interact with us. We love the likes, shares, and quotes/comments. Keep them coming!
