A very important factor of the game are those outside hitters that get all of the out of system swings and control the ball with poise. An outside hitter can be your powerhouse hitter, strategic mind-master, or just a plain leader. Here are six 4th region outside hitters that are special in their own way.

Olivia Overmohle- A sophomore in 2019, Olivia Overmohle, was the Greenwood Gator’s second starting outside hitter. She hit a .206 on the year and had 231 kills. It was her first year starting varsity, and she marked her spot as a strategic, powerful outside hitter. Overmohle has tons of potential and will help lead the Gators to hopefully another very successful season. Watch out for this awesome junior!

[player_tooltip player_id="68078" first="Katie" last="Howard"]- Mentioned earlier in the top 4th region players to watch, [player_tooltip player_id="68078" first="Katie" last="Howard"] definitely earns a spot in the region’s best outside hitters. Hitting a .436 on the left is extremely impressive as well as earning 488 kills. She even added 243 digs, 55 service aces, and 52 blocks. The numbers don’t lie that she is definitely top in the region as well as in the state, ranking 14th for most kills. Howard has been a vital part of the Greenwood Gators lineup and will be a great leader for the team her senior year!

[player_tooltip player_id="68099" first="Charli" last="Hodges"]- Playing for the Bowling Green Purples, [player_tooltip player_id="68099" first="Charli" last="Hodges"] switched from her original middle hitter position to fill the outside hitting spot. As any volleyball player knows, this transition is definitely one of the hardest, and Hodges handled it very well because of her athletic capability. Hodges actually only started playing volleyball when she was in eighth grade and quickly fell in love with the sport where she started varsity as a freshman in 2018! Being a key hitter for the Purples in 2019, Charli will do big things for her team this year as a junior!

Chloe Cook- Playing outside for Allen-County Scottsville, Chloe Cook made a huge impact for the team as just a sophomore! She racked up the most kills on her team with 118 and hit a .174 on the year. Plus, she helped the team defensively with 164 digs. Cook was a key all around player for the Lady Patriots by leading with her athleticism. Cook is a multi-sport athlete and also plays varsity basketball, so her resume is quite impressive. Be on the lookout for this junior outside hitter!

Evan Hoover- Playing in all 89 sets for Russell County, Evan Hoover led the team as an all around player. She had the most kills for the squad with 169 and hit a .194 while also adding 54 service aces with her killer serve. Hoover was the go-to player for the Lakers and will be a real standout in 2020 for her senior year!

Maddie Rockrohr- As just a sophomore for the South Warren Spartans in 2019, Maddie Rockrohr scored the most kills for the squad at 286 and hit .283 on the year! Rockrohr didn’t receive any varsity playing time her freshman year and then came out to play in all 101 sets for the Spartans. What’s special about Maddie is her competitive attitude, huge hops, and ability to place the ball where it needs to go. Rockrohr is a hardworker on and off the court, and she will definitely be a huge factor for the squad in 2020.
