Kays terminates balls in different ways with her athleticism and ball control. She also sends overpassed balls to open spots on the court. She continues to serve with a purpose to different zones on the court and use her size to go after balls aggressively on blocks.

Abner (pictured) has really come around for the Colonels. Abner sent hard shoves to open spots near side lines and pounded out exciting slide shots. Abner has developed sound roll shots and mixes in nice tips over blocks. Abner has dealt with some adversity in her life, but is turning that into a number of positive traits and helping encourage her teammates whether plays go for or against the Colonels.

Carroll primarily played defensive specialist during club season for 15 Elite and played libero Saturday for the Colonels. Whitley County is loaded with hitters so her presence gives the team options since she transferred over from Corbin. Carroll is a hustler on the court and continues to form walls around balls with a great platform to make sure Whitley County gets into a good offensive rhythm. Carroll could still step in to take big swings if needed.

Jarrell is a nice six-rotation player for Betsy Layne. She produces in all five statistical categories. Jarrell set up balls throughout the day after primarily hitting from the outside most of her career. She makes crisp first touches and sends across a hard float jump serve. Jarrell even takes hard swings from the back row.

Mudd's first contacts are a huge reason for Marion County's improvement in the preseason from last fall. Mudd steps to ball and uses a nice platform to form walls around them for simple, crisp first touches on defense and serve reception. She has great control even when she has to dive after balls. She continues to refine the topspin on her serves. Mudd sends balls to various locations on the court and aggressively goes after struggling passers.

Note from Writer

Mike Graham has been writing for Prep Dig for two years and has enjoyed getting to know the volleyball scenes in Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
