MOD's Must Watch at AAUs: Class of 2027

Throughout this club volleyball season, I have watched this class of upcoming seniors excel on the court. Whether it's dominating from the service line or running their fierce offense, this is a must-watch group during their upcoming nationals. Here's who you'll see when watching this strong 17U group:   SETTERS    Owen is a 5'11'' setter with a competitive setting style. She is fast, creative, and adaptive during play. Her tempo and perfect location set allow her hitters to know that she will consistently set them up. Owen can also attack the ball out of the RS, almost always resulting in a powerful kill.     Mikal is a 6'1'' setter who runs her offense with mere confidence. She is known to fake out her opponents as her setter's touch is so crisp. Mikal is also very strong behind the service line. Her float creates pressure while always being served with a purpose.    PIN HITTERS    Ferrick known as "The Hammer," puts the ball away like no one, at her age, that I've seen before. She is known to rack up most of her team's points as she can powerfully yet strategically power through any block. Her competitive hustle on the court is truly one for the books.     Bauer is a 5'11'' pin hitter who smoothly passes to attack, resulting in a kill. Her powerful approach, as well as her arm swing, keeps her opponents guessing as she strategically puts the ball away. Bauer also seals the net, creating an impossible wall to pass through when blocking.     Niedermaier is a 5'11'' outside hitter with a competitive eye when playing both in the front and back row. She moves her feet quickly into the ball, creating an angled pass that perfectly goes to the setter. Niedermaier will also chase down any ball within her vicinity.     Miechowicki stands 6'1'' as a pin hitter. Her ability to pass to attack, whether it's from the front row or back row, is something to watch. Her volleyball IQ allows her to strategically place the ball when challenged by a block. But what sets her apart is the way that she flies in the air to attack that set!     Andersone, shorter but mighty from the outside, soars through the air, snapping through the ball, leaving her opponents shaken. Her savvy defensive hustle is one for the books as she reads her opponents like a book!    MIDDLE BLOCKERS    Goldfayn stands 6'1' and even higher when blocking out of the middle. Her ability to quickly transition off the net and explode into her attack is something to key in on. She gracefully yet precisely moves into her block, resulting in a kill block.    LIBEROS    Zamora is her team's defensive rock as she dimes every pass that comes her way. Her feet move so quickly that you might miss her on the court! Defensively, she is always locked in and ready to challenge and dig any strong attacker, always sacrificing herself for the team. When behind the service line, her opponents fear what float serve she might execute next.     Sheedy literally flows as she moves, protecting her court. She never gives up on a chase ball nor tips over the black, sometimes resulting in a smooth pancake save. Her teammates know that once she dimes her pass, she will be right there behind them, covering their attack.    I'd keep an eye on this impressive class. Good luck at Nattys!
