Rodriguez’s defensive skills were in full display since the very first drills of the event. Extremely quick and dynamic, she was excellent at keeping the ball off the floor, combining remarkable effort and excellent technical skills. Rodriguez seemed to be everywhere on the back row, as not many balls would go down on her side of the net without her getting a touch on it. The libero also acted as a true back row general, constantly communicating with her teammates.

She brought nonstop effort to every drill and rep, always staying locked in and giving her teammates clear, confident information. April’s positivity stood out just as much as her hustle, creating a great vibe on the court. She is extremely coachable and responds immediately to feedback, making quick adjustments with maturity beyond her age. Players like her raise the standard for everyone around them.

Rodriguez was a freshman with Atascocita in the recently ended high school season and plays club volleyball for MoCo MAVS . She was on fire since the very first drills of our showcase, showing impressive agility on the back and energy to play defense. Using her solid ball control, she was very determined to keep the ball off the floor, displaying the mentality we see in elite liberos. Rodriguez was also very positive and communicated extremely well during the drills, cheering the other players and pushing them up with encouraging words.
