About Arayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Volleyball has shaped me into the dedicated, versatile athlete I am today. I take pride in my ability to adapt and contribute in multiple positions on the court. I feel I have consistent ball control on serve receive and defense, I always look for the best spots on either left or right side. My leadership style is to lead by example and motivate my teammates through the highs and lows of play.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Mentally I feel like I am a thinker that tries to take into account everything that is going on on the court both with my teammates and opponents. (To build onto my high volleyball IQ). I think about ways to score, how I can assist my teammates and focus on the direction/feedback of my coach. I am pretty quiet and reserved but I love to laugh and have fun with my friends.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of the National Honors society and have had honor roll awards. I haven't been in any clubs at school just yet but I plan to join at least 2 this upcoming year. I plan to major in Biomedical engineering and want to find clubs that will help with my major.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Because I can be a little quiet and reserved I am tapping into being more vocal as a leader. I played on varsity my freshman year and received team MVP and 2nd team all district my Freshman and this past year as a sophomore. My team leans on me often and I am embracing my part as a team captain. I try to be mindful of what I can say in moments that require us to focus and band together as a team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have had challenges mentally with my confidence on my club team. I have had to adapt and be ready to play different hitting positions from middle, outside and right side. I kinda get moved around often but I have grown to like right side the most. It is a compliment to be a utility player with skills even in setting but I plan to strengthen my skills even more by working on my vertical and power

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college in a location where I can experience all the seasons, that is safe, academically has my major of Biomedical engineering, has great study resources, and a diverse culture.

The junior outside hitter was Paetow’s most consistent player in the match and a key piece in their playing system. Scranton was the team’s go-to scorer and responded well, combining tremendous power and great intelligence to put the ball down. She was very successful in out-of-system plays, demonstrating great vision to find open spots and tool the block. Except for a period at the start of set four, Scranton’s passing was very reliable throughout the match.
