Martin is part of Paetow’s team in high school volleyball and features for Houston Skyline at the club level. A lefty with a solid mix of physical and technical skills, she was one of the most consistently productive offensive players in the event. Martin gets off the floor very well and has enough firepower in her left arm to beat blockers at the net. She has improved her vision over the last couple of years and is now also a threat in out-of-system plays, managing to put the ball down in difficult situations with well-placed shots and by tooling the block. She also does a good job with her blocking, remaining disciplined and balanced at the pin.

I had already watched Martin in action with both her club and high school teams, but seeing her perform in a showcase setting allowed me to notice some other strengths in her game. She was excellent offensively, getting off the floor very well and displaying an impressive variation with her swings. A lefty, Martin has tremendous firepower, but is also great at hitting difficult angles and finding gaps in the block. She also does well with her blocking, reading opponents efficiently and using her vertical and her length to get in their way.

Martin was with the Houston Skyline 14 Royal team that thrived against older opponents and took first place in the division with four wins and one loss. A lefty, she was an important part of their offense with her ability to get off the ground and fire powerful swings from the right. Martin was extremely productive when hitting a quicker set behind her team’s setter and displayed an interesting ability to find difficult angles as she attempted to go around opposing blockers. She user her great jumping ability to contribute on defense too, getting off the floor well and playing aggressively above the net when blocking.

Lia has a crazy powerful swing from the right side, showcasing her extraordinary strength and technique. With her impressive high vertical leap and her left-handed swing, she consistently seemed to be unstoppable whenever the ball came her way, leaving both opponents and spectators in awe of her skill. Her ability to read the game allows her to anticipate plays, making her a formidable presence on the court. Furthermore, she is very disciplined with her block, meticulously ensuring that she is in perfect sync with her middles. This coordination not only enhances her defensive capabilities but also creates opportunities for her teammates, as she expertly sets up plays that lead to scoring chances. Her relentless dedication to improvement and teamwork makes her a key player, solidifying her reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the match.
