About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a highly efficient hitter with strong court awareness. I love being an asset to my team both offensively by bring fast to transition and working on several hitting routes but also by being a strong blocker. I like a fast-paced game and play with intensity and focus.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I love the sport of volleyball and I of course love winning, but I also care a lot about being a good teammate and doing what I can do to bring people up around me so each of us can be our best on and off the court. My teammates see me as a calm and consistent. I try to be the first one to pick up a teammate when they are down and celebrate the success of others.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play in the high school band and have been on the A honor roll every trimester since middle school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I love being able to work with little kids and share my passion for volleyball helping with programs like Volleytots and Youth Academy at my club, MN Select. It has taught me how to teach others, how to be patient and how to make even hard things fun for kids who are just learning the game. I also love being able to work alongside my teammates as we help the younger athletes.
