Need a big and physical pin attacker? Look no further than Bailey, who recently committed to play her final season at Gym Rats in the Fort Wayne area. More known as a strong right side player, she’s listed as an outside on GRV’s website, and could easily be a three-rotation attacker on either pin for any size of school. With broad shoulders to take up space on the block, a high attack point for an arm swing and a strong upper body capable of handling the workload of club ball, Bailey is much-needed size at a time when the game is getting bigger and faster.

Big and physical, Bailey owns the net when she plays on the right side. Realistically, she could play either pin at the next level, but the majority of her reps have come on the right antenna. Strong on defense and tough on offense, her size alone is intimidating to opponents that she faces. I think this is a case, similar to Samantha above, where she’s done the majority of her heavy lifting during club season, and doesn’t receive a ton of sets during the high school season. No matter, Bailey is 6’2”, with volleyball acuity, neither of which can be taught.

Another big and solid right side, Bailey might not have the vertical that Samantha does, but she makes up for it in upper body strength. She hits a heavier ball to all angles, can cause problems for opposing attackers with her long arms and broad shoulders and is a positive force to be around on the court, always with a smile on her face. Playing for Gym Rats, a new club in the Fort Wayne area, she might not get as much publicity as others on this list. Nevertheless, you can’t teach 6’2″, and she would be a nice addition to the pin attacking stable of a smaller school.

Another big kid with potential, Bailey is a true right side at the next level, and she’s been doing just that for the last couple of years. More broad-shouldered than Samantha listed above, I believe her blocking technique is more advanced than her attacking simply because of the lack of attacking experience she’s had in high school. Her penetration as a blocker is much better than the norm for right sides in this class, and it’s just a matter of time and training for her attacking to catch up.

Bailey is yet another big and physical kid on this list, but is best known for turning out-of-system swings into calculated attacks. Her shot-making abilities lead me to believe that she’s done some grunt work on the sand, as her placement from both pins make her an ideal attacker if you wish to minimize errors. Although club-hopping from Empowered to Team Pineapple to now Gym Rats might have stunted her development some, there’s no doubt that her size and volleyball smarts have carried her this far.

Big and physical, Bailey’s net defense is currently more advanced than her attacking, but that’s a good thing, considering how little blocking is taught in this state. What Bailey lacks in offense she more than makes up for by minimizing errors and placing shots that work according to scouting reports and reading defenses. Yes, this is a raw athlete that will probably be a redshirt candidate at a larger school. But you can’t teach 6’2″, and she would be a nice addition to a stable of big kids that can get her moving in the right direction offensively.
