Kearney Catholic has known all about star setters, and Squiers is yet another bright spot in the team’s long history. She was one of Class C1’s strongest setters in two-hitter rotations and showed a willingness to tally her own kills when given the chance. 2023’s runner-up effort was a memorable one for Squiers and the Stars’ stacked senior class.

Squiers is the complete package at the setter position. Of course, she has all the consistent distribution you’d hope for and has a knack for putting her hitters in good spots. But Squiers also gives Kearney Catholic some serious aggression at the net with her strong blocking and penchant for attacking on the second contact. That balance makes the Stars infinitely more difficult to defend, and we got a glimpse of that last weekend.

Get used to seeing plenty of Kearney Catholic representation on these rankings features. We already discussed Haarberg’s wide-ranging impact on the outside, but don’t discount the importance of Squiers’ steady setting, either. Nebraska Pride Gold 17s never finds itself in a blocking deficit in two-hitter rotations, as Squiers stands tall at the net and offers tremendous physicality. Her presence in our rankings was overdue!
