Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Gothenburg boasted a balanced attack for its back-to-back-to-back trips to the state tournament, but Evert was still undoubtedly a trendsetter. She consistently led the Swedes in kills but was perhaps even more valuable as a ball-control anchor. Building a team around these all-around skills is a recipe for success, and Evert will long be remembered for sparking a few of the best volleyball seasons in Gothenburg’s history.

She’s still one of the best. Evert’s storied high school career with Gothenburg only has a few more weeks, but her impact will reach farther into the future than that. The senior outside hitter is putting up 3.6 kills per set in her swan song campaign, which is right around Evert’s career average with the Swedes. That’s good enough to put Evert over 1,000 career kills to go along with an even larger tally in the dig department. This is a transformative all-around player.

Let’s keep running through those veteran outside hitters. Gothenburg has leaned on Evert’s attacking production throughout the school’s multi-year status as a championship frontrunner. Evert has changed the trajectory of the Gothenburg program and shows no signs of slowing down. Her reliable swings on the left pin should lift Gothenburg to another Lincoln trip this November.

Evert has been a ringleader during Gothenburg’s rise to prominence over the past couple of seasons. She averaged four kills per set last season and was equally impactful in floor defense and serve receive. The Swedes will ask a lot of their senior outside hitter.

You may know Evert from her wicked frontcourt attacks with Gothenburg. Indeed, she was a primary kill producer for the Swedes as the team reached its first-ever state volleyball title match. But Nebraska Pride exhibited a different wrinkle to Evert’s game this spring as she took on colossal defensive responsibilities at the libero spot. Transitioning between these two roles can be difficult for some players who are mostly accustomed to attacking, but Evert is versatile enough to make the move worthwhile. This is one of Nebraska’s best small-town gems.

Let’s stay on this run of central Nebraska gems. Evert has seen some of the state’s biggest stages on the high school side, as she led Gothenburg to its first-ever state tournament appearance and followed that up by climbing to the state championship match a year later. This Swede’s combination of aggressive attacking and stout ball control will generate must-see moments for the GPR Bid Tourney.
