Blackburn moved up 17 spots after demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm on the court this season. Blackburn picked up her game after St. Henry lost a number of key hitters from the previous season and took a lot of the younger hitters under her wings. Blackburn had 225 kills, 22 solo and 56 assisted blocks, helping St. Henry go 33-6 overall, winning a second straight All “A” State championship, another 34th District crown and finish in the 9th Region title game.

If there is a time to turn into Corrine Block-burn, it is now and she did that in the quarterfinals with five big ones including ones in the fourth game. She rose up and timed several with solid precision. Blackburn (pictured) also took some short sets from both setters and slammed balls down. Blackburn said the Crusaders had good energy in the first two games then flipped the switch back on in the fourth game. Blackburn said her mentality was owning the net and not letting anything past her. Blackburn finished with 14 kills in the game.

Blackburn has turned into a force at the net using her size to double up with teammates on blocks and force opponents to think, which sometimes leads to balls hitting the net. She has a good follow-through and a tough slide shot. Blackburn smacks it hard to the line and does a great job redirecting overpassed balls to the floor.

Blackburn has nice size and athleticism and does a great job utilizing them to control the net. Blackburn goes up quick and smacks balls down with a phenomenal follow-through. Blackburn can slide over fast and reach balls for blocks. Her enthusiasm after the team scores a point is contagious. She can smack it hard to the line and does a slide to the right with a powerful tip to throw defenses off. Blackburn does a great job redirecting overpassed balls away from defenders. Blackburn will be a bigger factor this fall for Saint Henry with a full season on varsity.
