Weinert has a knack for turning any set into a termination opportunity. She led Olathe North’s tab last fall with a near-0.300 hitting clip, putting her near the top of Kansas’ sophomore sheet. We’ve seen similar effectiveness on the club side. I have fond memories of covering MAVS 16 Elite’s hot start at Kansas City’s Triple Crown NIT, and Weinert aided the effort through her output in the middle. Expect a few more upticks in hitting averages this fall.

Let’s linger in the MAVS gym. Weinert has been an indispensable part of MAVS KC 16 Elite’s tone-setting frontcourt. We had the privilege of covering 16 Elite’s perfect start at the Triple Crown NIT, and Weinert’s presence in the middle helped sustain that early momentum. Her climb has continued as she has become one of 16 Elite’s best ‘gap’ hitters. Weinert thrives while operating away from the setter, exploiting seams in the block on up-tempo balls. We can look forward to seeing more from Weinert on GJNC’s prestigious 16 Open stage.

Weinert had the best hitting and kill percentage for the Eagles as a sophomore. She finished with 189 kills last season for North. She arguably might be the top blocker among the Top 25-ranked athletes. She recorded 56 blocks last season and has a two-season total of 130 blocks. She might be a little underrated still, as I have not seen her play in person, just on film.

Even with a 20-12 record, a team like North can get overlooked with perennial powers Blue Valley West, Mill Valley, Olathe West, and Blue Valley Northwest in its region. Weinert has posted back-to-back seasons with at least 100 kills. She tallied 189 kills and 56 blocks in 94 sets played. She was primarily used only in the front row by the Eagles’ coaching staff. She has a big reach and two years of prep ball ahead of her. She is ranked No. 11 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028 and has 130 total blocks in two seasons.

The Olathe North prospect is ranked No. 8 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. She had a solid freshman season for the Eagles, collecting 154 kills and 74 blocks for Olathe North. It only makes sense that she would play right field for the Baby Bears. The same part of Wrigley where “The Hawk” Andre Dawson once soarded.
