About Ella
Expert Analysis
Michelle Bamford | Prep Dig Scout
Ella Olson is heading into UA Next with a clear understanding of what makes her dangerous in six rotations. Serve receive, attacking range, leadership, and a heavy topspin serve all remain central parts of her identity, but one of the biggest jumps in her game this season has come through her arm swing.
Instead of relying on arm strength alone, she has learned how to generate more power through her entire body, creating cleaner contact, better range, and a swing that is becoming harder to defend.
What stands out even more is how she handles pressure.
Mental resets happen fast. The next point matters more than the last one.
I remind myself that I’ve worked hard to prepare for any possible situation on the court.
Already committed to University of Texas at Austin, Ella’s game feels confident, explosive, and built for the biggest stages.

is a physical presence on the outside, capable of scoring in any rotation. She delivers heavy, controlled contact and has the ability to take over rallies with her swings. A Texas commit for both indoor and beach, she stands as the clear headliner for Newport Harbor. What’s telling is the response from opponents. Blockers and liberos seem to dig deeper for the chance to claim they stuffed or dug a future Division I Texas player. It’s a reflection of the respect she commands every time she takes the court. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Whenever Newport Harbor needed a point in a dire situation, Olson made sure her team would get it. One thing that impressed me was how effective she was hitting the bic, no matter who was up at the net. Olson is also a competitive yet humble leader, as she gave credit to the rest of her teammates in a most recent interview.

Verbally Committed to the University of Texas
Earned an invite to the 2025 NTDP Summer Training Series (U18) in Hamilton, Ohio, held July 29 to August 1, 2025. This achievement is recognized as a Recruitable Credential.
In Ella’s Words:
“I am so grateful to have been invited to the USAV NTDP this July. I feel so lucky to be part of something so special. Being surrounded by the best girls in the entire country, along with top coaches from across the nation, is a true privilege. I’m excited to reconnect with friends and meet new ones!
For me, the best part of the experience is knowing that every girl invited has made just as many sacrifices for the game as you have, and all of us are striving to play at the next level. That’s a very rare and powerful community to have all in one place. I can’t wait!”

‘s Post:
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic journey at The University of Texas at Austin, where I’ll be playing both beach and indoor volleyball! 🤘🧡
First, I want to thank my family for their constant love and support, and for providing me with the resources to turn this dream into a reality. To Tstreet Volleyball Club —thank you for pouring your time, hard work, and endless encouragement into my development over the past seven years. You’ve given me not just coaching, but a second family. To Spiker Beach Volleyball, thank you for taking me in and surrounding me with athletes and coaches who’ve pushed me to become both a better player and a better person. And above all, thank you to God for giving me the ability—physically and mentally—to compete.
A huge thank you as well to Chris Vu, Kelly and Jordan Cheng, Ryan Redira, Marty Suan, Jake Gibb, Andy Hein, Valinda Roche, Newport Harbor Volleyball, the entire Tanner family, and every coach, player, trainer, and program who has stood by me through this journey. I wouldn’t be anywhere near this opportunity without you.
Finally, the biggest thank you to Jerritt Elliott, Ben Josephson, David Hunt, Reiley Canter, Stein Metzger, Will Buchanan, Angie Akers, and the entire University of Texas volleyball staff for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. Your belief in me means more than any words can say.
HOOK ‘EM! 🤘🧡
