About Elley

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Energetic, my team mates and coaches all say I’m the energy of the team. I enjoy being a leader by example. I feel like energy can make or break a match.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is relentless, I don’t let mistakes bring down my enthusiasm and energy. I definitely play with a next ball mentality. My personality is loud, energetic, and fun!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m excited to start clubs in highschool, I would love to be apart of student council.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been playing volleyball since I was 8. I have developed volleyball IQ from playing every position in the court excluding libero. I feel like my IQ comes from being a versatile player. Whatever I can do to help my team succeed is what I want to do. I enjoy ALL aspects of the game and my teammates look to me for leadership.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The biggest obstacle I have faced was moving from Mississippi to North Texas last year. It’s been hard being away from family and friends, and it’s a whole new environment for volleyball. I’m so thankful for the opportunity but there have been challenges with coming into such a high level area for volleyball. I am using these challenges to grow my game and show me areas I need to work on.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that has a high standard for academics and athletics. I have ADHD and dyslexia and I struggle in the classroom, but volleyball is my release and happy place. So I want a good balance of both, I want to be pushed to succeed academically because I really want to pursue an Athletic Training position like my dad.
