Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I would describe my gameplay as very aggressive and enthusiastic. During the game, I can be aggressive at the net, whether it is yelling where the other team's defense is set up or closing the block with the pins. I am enthusiastic about the game and even though winning is the end goal, I know it is important to focus on the steps that lead to the win.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
My mentality during games/practice is to move on to the next point. You can get stuck on your past mistakes and that can snowball into a very negative space. My personality is usually positive, I usually lift other people up, but sometimes I need to focus on that myself. If I use too much energy to make other people positive, sometimes where I struggle is finding that positivity for myself.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I received the Presidential Award in 5th and 8th grade for academic excellence.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
My coaches at Spiketown USA for 14.1s taught me how to be a leader and helped put me in that position on and off the court. They taught me to control the court because as a middle, you need to be loud and communicative. Our team last year used teamwork in the best possible way, with team bonding and fun experiences on the court. I have volunteered at shelters and as a catechist to young children.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Last club season was my first year playing club, and going into a new team with no club experience where everyone had played club before was challenging. I didn't know the rotations, I had never played with such experienced players before, and knowing that was super hard for me to be on the team. At times, I felt like I didn't belong there. But everyone was very welcoming and helpful to me.
What type of college are you looking for?
I want to be a teacher so I want to go somewhere with a good education program. I'm also looking for somewhere with a good reputation and a fun culture where I can continue to further my education but still enjoy my experience at college. I am open to in-state or out-of-state schools.
