Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
Nicholas was with the HJV 18 Elite team that ended the event with two wins and a loss. A very technical libero, she used her ability to anticipate plays to be one step ahead on defense, ensuring her digs kept the team in system, even in transition. Nicholas also led her team’s serve-receive efforts, efficiently covering a large portion of the court and thriving with her passing. The libero served well, too, and was very consistent with her play in general.

The senior libero worked hard on the backcourt to keep her team in system. Nicholas handled her zone very well and, on some occasions, stepped up to cover her teammates with her strong passing skills. She also appeared well on defense and made some plays that helped her team push at the end of the second set. Nicholas was able to keep her game steady throughout the match and had a solid match on the backcourt for the Warriors.

The junior libero gave Jordan a lot of strength and consistency on the backcourt. Nicholas displayed great chemistry with defensive specialist Jenilee Ngo as the two covered most of the court in serve-receive, freeing up the team’s outside hitters to focus on scoring. She was also very active on the backcourt and was always well-positioned, making some nice digs and being the first to get to free balls. Nicholas also contributed with her serving, going on some runs and getting Paetow out of system.

I got to watch Nicholas in person just a few weeks ago during the high school season and am looking forward to seeing what she can do this weekend. She played an important role as a defensive specialist with her team Jordan, which advanced to the playoffs for the first time in a strong Katy district, by providing them with great defensive support and a strong serving presence. Nicholas is very reliable with her passing and also does a very good job when playing defense. She can also be a threat from the service line with her tough floater.

The sophomore libero had a busy night, being targeted by several of Cinco Ranch’s tough serves and did a fine job, not making many errors and passing most balls in good spots for her setter to work with. Nicholas was also very active on the backcourt, especially in the first two sets, getting 11 digs during the match. She had some good serving runs too and was very precise and reliable when she had to set in transition.
