Competing in the American division, Bertrand and her team faced tough competition throughout. Emory showed her versatility on both offense and defense. As a setter, she delivers a great ball to her attackers. Always giving them the pace needed to get the ball down. She’s very smart on the court and reads the defense to put her hitters in the best position to score. As a hitter, she displays the strong-arm speed needed to power through a block and the finesse to go off hands, or around the block. Her passing is solid and keeps the offense in system when she has to dig one out. All around talent and able to help a team out in multiple ways.

Emory Bertrand Emory Bertrand 5'10" | S/RS Har-Ber | 2028 AR consistently sets the tempo for Storm 17-1, running a fast offense that creates one-on-one opportunities for her hitters. She approaches the position with a defense-first mindset, constantly adjusting to the ball and putting herself in position to make difficult plays. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to be stopped and balanced when the ball is contacted, allowing her to successfully defend quick attacks and unpredictable plays. What stood out most was her intensity from start to finish. As a six-rotation setter, Bertrand never seems to run out of energy. She can attack with a second-ball opportunity one moment and immediately transition into defensive pursuit on the next, bringing relentless effort and competitiveness to every rally.

Bertrand is a very aggressive setter with a high volleyball IQ. In the front row she likes to fake out the opposing blockers by going up to hit the second ball but then switching last second to set her hitters. This has been highly effective. She also puts up a really good block in the front row. Her defense is also quite impressive as she does a good job at digging hard driven swings.
