About Maya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my stye as a balance of calm composure and aggressive execution. I stay calm in high-pressure moment and commit fully to each play. I try to be the player my teammates can count on in any situation and keeping a calm attitude helps my teammates when we are in high pressure situations. I'm not afraid to step up and make big plays

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I describe my mentality as focused and resilient. I take pride in not getting overwhelmed by mistakes and staying locking in and moving forward to the next play. A coach once told me volleyball is a game of mistakes and so I have used that to stay locked in for the next play and not worry about the previous play.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have volunteered many hours at my club helping with whatever needed. I am active in my youth cell group and look forward to joining school clubs next year

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership skills that I bring to every practice and game. My priority to stay vocal, supportive, and encouraging to m teammates has pushed me to a leadership role in the back row. I hold myself accountable and push to improve leading by example

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest obstacles this season has been playing with and ankle injury. Being limited physically has been difficult but it has taught me to stay mentally strong and the importance of patience and recovery. That taking care of my body is a priority and still finding ways to support my teammates.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a school with strong traditions and positive atmosphere. I want to be somewhere that has structure with clear expectations and encourages growth on and off the court. I want a program that pushes me mentally and physically in a healthy way to help shape me into a better teammate and player
