Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
The senior setter had to change her game to adjust to the team’s new 6-2 system after the arrival of Dumas and her performance against Seven Lakes pointed out how complete of a player she is. Besides doing an excellent job with her setting and ball distribution, as usual, Dellesky was also involved with Tompkins’ serve-receive and offensive systems and was very efficient in both areas of the game. She handled the few serves that went her way very well and, despite not being extremely explosive or powerful, sided out at a good rate, tooling the block and finding good spots on the court. One of just a few seniors in Tompkins’ roster, she did a very good job leading the team against Seven Lakes.

Eighth-placed Houston Skyline 17 Black didn’t have a great day on Sunday, but Dellesky was solid and consistent with her play as usual. She operated with passes off the net for most of the time and did her best to keep her hitters in system, having some success with it. Her calm on the court proved to be an important asset when the team was under pressure as Dellesky still managed to remain level-headed and make good decisions with her distribution. She also made some strong plays on defense.

Dellesky was on the court at the end of sets one and two and her calm and efficiency were pivotal to Tompkins’ comebacks on both occasions. She was very smart in keeping things simple and sticking to her hottest hitters when the set was on the line and that proved to be the perfect strategy in those moments. The setter, who had 22 assists, also helped with eight digs and had a long serving run on set two that allowed the Falcons to come back to win a set that was strongly leaning Ridge Point’s way.

Tompkins is blessed for having two excellent setters in Dellesky and Presley Powell and the two typically split the time on the court, with one playing the net rotations and the other playing the backcourt ones. Dellesky has the complete package one would expect as she’s very technical, consistent, intelligent and calm. Her locations are as reliable as it gets and she’s very smart with her ball distribution as well.
