Mussmann has already done an amazing job fitting right in with the 3A state champs. At the Iowa Sizzle, she was making her blockers second-guess her every move by running various routes throughout the scrimmage. She always made herself an option and was quick to put the ball away when given the opportunity. Mussmann is just what Assumption needs after graduating their two starting middles.

Bring on the Class of 2028. We’ve covered some of Iowa Select 16 Mizuno’s quick, springy pin hitters, but Mussmann brings the length to complement this group. One-on-one chances turned into sure kills for this Davenport Central star. Termination is only part of the story for Mussmann, who has also flourished as an elite net defender. She led the Davenport Central blocking ledger last fall and brings the same influence with a loaded 16 Mizuno group.

Mussmann stood out as a pop-up prospect for me when watching Select 16 Mizuno compete at the 2026 Nike President’s Day Classic in St. Louis. She’s built on a sophomore season at Davenport Central that saw her contribute 62 kills and 29.0 blocks in 70 sets. Mussmann still has some rawness to her game that will be ironed out with more reps. That there’s easily recognizable room for growth is exciting for her future. Mussmann’s ceiling is sizable thanks to natural gifts in the form of long arms, athleticism and burgeoning power. She held up well playing against strong competition in the open division and more exposure to high-level opponents during club could set her up for a breakout with the Blue Devils this coming fall.
