Every time I was on the Adversity court, I always seemed to write down #20.  That’s Freya McBride Freya McBride 5'7" | DS/L John Hersey | 2027 State IL , the libero for Adversity 16 Adidas.  I was really impressed with her platform control and range.  There are always liberos who can throw their body all over the court to make the highlight, but what I liked about McBride is that she made difficult plays look routine.  She can take pace off a hard swing, pick up tips and roll shots, and can put up a controlled second ball.  I think she’s a steal at the next level.  

Freya McBride Freya McBride 5'7" | DS/L John Hersey | 2027 State IL commands the backrow for Adversity 16 Adidas where she brings a presence.  A presence in her communication, engaging with her teammates, and looking for the consistent first touch to get her side in system.  She can handle a high volume of serve receive and bring calm to the chaos on the second ball.  

Adversity 16 Adidas out of Chicagoland will be a fun team to watch this upcoming season where they have plenty of power at the pins with one of the top outsides in the Midwest in Maggie Kurpeikis Maggie Kurpeikis 6'1" | OH Marist | 2027 State #45 Nation IL .  That first contact will be so important to stay in system to allow all attackers to swing away.  The commander of the backrow is Freya McBride Freya McBride 5'7" | DS/L John Hersey | 2027 State IL .  The 2027 libero who preps at Hersey High School is one to watch where she is efficient with her platform, she is well controlled and can make plenty of plays look routine.  Adversity has developed some high level liberos which includes Gillian Grimes who recently won a national championship at Penn State. 

Freya caught my eye because of the amount of space she takes up on serve receive. She really covers a lot of space and helps alleviate pressure on her pins. She is well-rounded, communicates well, and has a lot of potential. Freya has all the makings of a great libero and will be a player to watch.
