Gwenyth Rein is already making waves in Minnesota volleyball, and it’s easy to see why she’s being recognized as one of the state’s breakout players this season. Just an 8th grader, she has stepped seamlessly into a varsity role for the Mabel-Canton Cougars, running the team’s offense with a maturity and poise far beyond her age.
Through the first part of the 2025 season, Rein has tallied over 875 assists, 195 digs, and 40 aces, showcasing her ability to not only set clean and decisive plays but also contribute as a defensive and serving threat. Her vision on the court allows her to read defenses and find hitters in the perfect spots, keeping opponents off balance and her team firing at full speed.
What makes Rein truly stand out is her combination of skill, leadership, and composure. She commands the court with confidence, communicates effectively with teammates, and delivers under pressure. All qualities that make her a player to watch for years to come.
With the season still in progress, her impact will only grow, and she’s quickly proving that age is no barrier when talent and determination are this strong.

is one of those rare young setters who already plays with the confidence and control of a varsity veteran. With over 825 assists this season, she’s running her offense with precision—clean hands, quick footwork, and a high volleyball IQ. Rein executes tempo variations with ease, keeping her hitters in rhythm and opponents guessing. Her ability to read the block, disguise location, and deliver in-system balls under pressure makes her a high-upside prospect who’s already shaping into a true floor general. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas
