Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Kubat remains one of the most dynamic defenders in the Club Legacy gym. We’ve documented her incredible leadership during Omaha Westside’s rise to Class A prominence. That experience has translated to a wealth of accolades with Club Legacy 17 Alpha, including a runner-up finish at this month’s Midwest Power League. Not only is Kubat a steady commander of 17 Alpha’s first contacts, but she can also step in as a secondary setter and deliver perfect out-of-system sets.

Kubat continues to command the Club Legacy 17 Alpha backcourt. The Omaha Westside junior has played in plenty of high-stakes contests throughout her prep career, so she’s prepared for whatever challenges the Midwest Power League presents. Kubat can dig heat in the crosscourt and read tip shots down the line. She also knows how to take control of the serve-receive pattern and allow her pin-hitting teammates to thrive. 17 Alpha can look forward to several more standout performances on the regional stage.

Kubat’s breakout 2023 season has extended into 2024. She donned the libero jersey for Omaha Westside last year and helped the Warriors reach their third consecutive Class A semifinal appearance. The talented junior defender is on pace to surpass her 400-dig total from last year–all while competing against the state’s most terminal attackers. Kubat’s steady ball control and transition digs have kept Omaha Westside in the top three of this year’s back-and-forth wildcard race, so another trip to the semifinals could be coming.

Kubat burst onto the scene with some wicked defensive numbers during the 2023 fall season. She has retained her spot in the libero jersey as a junior and has taken her game to another level. Kubat was eager to absorb passing volume last weekend and took heavy burdens away from her fellow attackers. She is also a skilled secondary setter who can maintain Westside’s rhythm in out-of-system situations. Players like Kubat deserve a lot of credit for the Warriors’ sky-high offensive numbers–even if Kubat isn’t the one putting the ball away.

The last several months have been big for Kubat. She handled the pressure of anchoring Omaha Westside’s defense as the Warriors made another appearance in the state semifinals. It’s not easy to be a sophomore libero in the fiery Class A crucible, but Kubat was ready for the challenge. That valuable experience is now translating to Club Legacy 16 Alpha, a squad with high aspirations after excelling at the Presidents’ Day Classic. Kubat reminded us of her defensive prowess at that event, and she’s just getting started with the 2024 campaign.

No one is surprised to see Kubat thriving. Last year’s high school season was a game-changer for this dynamic defender, who swiped Omaha Westside’s libero jersey and led the Warriors to the Class A semifinals. Kubat shoulders similar responsibilities with Club Legacy 16 Alpha on the club side. Her diving saves and unflappable passing catalyzed a six-match winning streak in Omaha. It’s proof of what 16 Alpha can accomplish against the Great Plains Region’s top competitors.

We couldn’t stop at one Omaha Westside sophomore. While several of Class A’s tournament teams boasted veteran-laden lineups, the Warriors relied on young talent at key positions. Kubat donned Westside’s libero jersey this year and racked up over 350 digs with plenty more volume in serve receive. She showed a special knack for reading opposing setters that is not common among underclassman defenders. The Warriors have to feel good about their returning core of stars that should help keep the postseason streak alive.

Kubat is another one of Club Legacy 15 Alpha’s athletes who stood out at the Great Plains Bid Tournament. Her command of the backcourt was clear through her communication, technique, and the amount of court she covers in serve receive. Look for this libero to keep climbing up the 2026 ranks in future seasons.
