Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Wingett’s meteoric development has been awe-inspiring. We remember her quick start as a Millard North standout, and she brought the same influence after joining Omaha Westside last year. Her hitting percentage consistently hovered around 0.400 during the Warriors’ battle with Omaha Marian–all while leading Westside in kills. The Warriors are back in the Class A semifinals for the fourth time in the last five years, punctuating the best multi-year stretch in school history.

Wingett is a new addition to the Omaha Westside lineup, but her typical offensive output has persisted. She is currently leading all Nebraska attackers with a show-stopping 0.436 hitting percentage through eight matches. Wingett exceeded a 0.700 efficiency in recent showdowns with Papillion-La Vista and Millard North. Not many players bring the physicality and high contact point that Wingett provides, so she’s bound to keep ascending Nebraska’s leaderboards this year.

Wingett has cemented her status as a go-to attacker. She can work with any tempo she’s given, which is a reminder of her extensive background as a pin hitter. Still, Wingett was primarily a middle blocker for Nebraska Elite 16 Lokahi and had some of the team’s most eye-popping kills of the 2024 season. We’re excited to see how Wingett embarks on her upperclassman stint with Millard North after lighting up scoreboards as a sophomore.

Millard North’s flashes of brilliance in 2023 could be the precursor to the program’s restored contender status in Class A. It also helps to have a dominant middle blocker who is set up for multiple years of future success. Wingett has dazzled us on the club side by terminating at just about every frontcourt position imaginable. Her niche with the Mustangs was in the middle, where she tallied two-and-a-half kills per set on a solid 0.259 clip. Expect another uptick in production next year.

Wingett clearly has all the tools necessary to be a statistically productive blocker. She brings tremendous length along the net, something that Millard North has harnessed en route to a solid start to 2023. We’ve seen Wingett on the pin and in the middle throughout her prep career, but recent reps in the middle have produced some monster numbers in the blocking category. The Mustang program knows all about impactful middle blockers, too.

We’ve mentioned Wingett throughout the 2023 club season, but that was mostly during discussions regarding pin hitters. However, Wingett appears on this feature thanks to her background as a middle blocker for Millard North. There are no guarantees on which position she might play this fall, but it’s fair to say that Wingett will produce her share of highlight moments.

Here’s another case of “left pin or right pin.” Regardless of which side she’s on, Wingett has proven to be a leading terminator for Nebraska Elite 15 Phoenix this season. Her physicality and sky-high contact point make her a plug-and-play option on either antenna, so this is undoubtedly a player we’ll have our eye on this fall.
