About Kaelyn
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am a natural lefty, but play sports with my right. So when I play volleyball, and I hit right handed. But, I am a little ambidextrous, so I am able to use my left hand very well in volleyball. I can see the court very well and usually can find a whole in the court and know where to put the ball.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a very cheerful person. I try to keep everyone on the court in a good mood by cheering, having fun, but still reminding them we have a job to complete. My mentality is always about having fun, because when you are enjoying yourself and having fun, the game means more to my teammates and I. When we have fun, we perform well.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am not currently enrolled in any clubs as of my freshman year. On the other hand, going into my sophomore year, I intend on joining Beta Club, Crafts for A Cause, and maybe even Girls for Christ.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I am a leader, I have been captain of my team the past two years of school ball. (8th grade Varsity team and 9th grade JV team). I always like to encourage my setters to set every hitter because we have many talented players on our team. It’s a team sport and we shouldn’t just rely on one outside hitter.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
The hardest challenge I have faced in my career so far, was last year, when I had to decided which club I was going to play for. I had been at the same club for 4 years (When I started playing) and it wasn’t doing me and justice. I needed a change. But it was hard to adjust to the change because I wouldn’t know anyone on my new team. Looking back, switching clubs was the best decision I have made.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for colleges that will help me grow, learn new skills, help me perform to the best of my ability, work and push me, crest discipline, and lastly I am looking for a school that I could see a future me look back and be proud I went there.
