Kaliah Demuro plays defense with a phrase she repeats to herself constantly: see ball, get ball. It shows in how she reads the game, tracking the play and the opposing offense to put herself in position before the ball arrives. She brings consistency, communication, and court awareness every time she steps on the floor, and her teammates and coaches have learned they can trust her in serve receive and in the back row without hesitation. She recently added a split step to her game, which has sharpened her first-step reaction and kept her more balanced the instant an attacker makes contact. It is a small technical change with a real payoff. Kaliah treats her development like a daily habit, training, going to the gym, debriefing her own practices, and journaling her progress, and that discipline is already showing up in how she competes.

DeMuro showcased extreme quickness and excellent court awareness by making consistent efficient movements with rarely a false step. She does a solid job reading her hitters which allowed her to anticipate tips, run through the off speed shots, and change directs in a split second. What I really liked about DeMuro is that she is very aggressive in her pursuit of the ball which kept her defense stable and allowed her to extend plays. Overall, DeMuro demonstrated great court awareness, exceptional footwork, and exceptional decision-making that elevated her team’s play. This gem is one to keep tabs on in the future.

DeMuro’s defensive motor was impossible to miss. She covered more floor than anyone around her, reading hitters early and beating the ball to the spot with sharp, aggressive footwork. What stood out most was her willingness to take charge — she called seams confidently, stepped into heavy serves without hesitation, and delivered clean, controlled passes even when absorbing pace.
