About Karly

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Aggressive but smart. Put in 100% for EVERY point no matter what. I am open to learning any new position that will help my team. For example, I am currently still improving on being an Outside Hitter, and back row player. Celebrating after every point is essential to keeping energy, so I do my best to celebrate every point and hype up all of my teammates.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I always play to win. I play like we’re already winning, and try too keep that score up, even when we’re losing. Its hard to stay positive all the time when you’re down, but it’s about getting back up instead of digging deeper. Since last year was my first year playing volleyball, and this is my first year in club, I sometimes feel behind, but it’s all about perspective and opportunity to improve!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Definitely leadership. I am on a 17s team as an 15 year old this year, and still got chosen for captain! I love taking care of my team and helping them keep a positive mindset!! Although it’s sometimes hard to stay positive, I always think of my teammates and stay positive to keep them positive!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, definitely. I won’t lie, I’ve had some struggles with keeping a positive mentality myself, especially when we’re down so low, but I am significantly working on keeping my positive attitude, and showing my positivity to my teammates! Since I started volleyball last year, it’s been a struggle to catch up with everyone, but I put in extra work so that I can be better!!

What type of college are you looking for?

A college that is competitive and will help me improve. Volleyball is very important to me, so continuing to play into college would be amazing!! A college with a good nursing program is very important as well, given that I want to be a Pediatrician.
