Kendall Ferguson
About Kendall
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am an emerging libero with strong foundational passing skills and a high growth trajectory. I currently lead my team in serve receive average and I take pride in being reliable and composed in first contact. My work ethic and coachability are key strengths—I consistently apply feedback, compete with intent, and bring increasing defensive aggression and a relentless effort to every play.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I would describe myself as steady and consistent, someone my team can rely on in any moment. I play with a relentless mindset but I also stay easygoing and composed, which helps me stay balanced during matches. I bring a level of maturity to my approach, taking feedback seriously and focusing on continuous improvement. I care about my teammates, on and off the course to build genuine connections.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am actively involved in my school’s leadership team, where I help contribute to building a positive and inclusive environment. I also volunteer at my church, which has helped me develop a strong sense of responsibility, service, and connection to my community.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I’ve learned to communicate effectively, support my teammates and classmates, and lead by example through my work ethic and attitude. These experiences have also helped me build responsibility, resilience, and a focus on contributing to a positive team and community environment.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One challenge I’ve faced is working through a mental “rut” while learning the Libero position. I sometimes focused too much on results instead of the process, which led to frustration. I’ve improved by trusting my training/coaching, focusing on steady effort, and resetting during play, which has made me more resilient and confident.
What type of college are you looking for?
I desire a strong sense of community where I can build relationships with my teammates and coaches. I want a competitive volleyball program that will push me to keep improving, along with coaches who value development and communication. Academically, I desire a school that will challenge me and support my long-term goals, while also giving me opportunities to stay involved in the campus community.
