The ability to function as a back row anchor in the libero role and also run an offense as a setter is not something that can be developed overnight, and the fact that she is doing both at a meaningful level as a sophomore in a 5A program that has produced a national Gatorade Player of the Year and sent multiple players to the highest levels of college volleyball tells you the talent is real and the development environment is accelerating it. Her defensive reading and platform mechanics carry the discipline of a player who has been trained specifically for the libero role, while her ball-handling and court vision in the setter position reflect a separate but equally developed skill set. The two-position value she brings creates roster flexibility that coaches at every level struggle to manufacture, and programs that identify that early will benefit considerably when she is fully developed. With Kenzie in the backcourt, defense is never hesitating. She leads vocally, with her energy, and most importantly by example. Wherever the play is happening, Kenzie is sure in the middle of it bringing poise and control to the rally.

Kezie Busse, the libero for 1United , is the steady backbone of the team’s defense. Doing a phenomenal job keeping the back row under control. In the midst of a weekend filled with chaos and unpredictable rallies, Kezie remained composed and disciplined, consistently putting herself in the right position and keeping her defense in line. Her court awareness, quick reactions, and fearless effort allow her to turn disorder into organization, giving her teammates confidence on every play. Kezie’s leadership and reliability make her an invaluable presence on the floor and a key reason 1United stays competitive in high-pressure moments.

Miss Busse is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.  She plays for Lovejoy High School and also plays for the 1United volleyball club.  While most defensive players have to really push themselves to extend their range due to their height limits, Kenz uses her longer frame very well in the back row.  She is a very athletic and strong baller who has no trouble rebounding the ball to where it needs to go with her platform.  When you watch her play out of the middle back position, you see that she is in total control and knows her role very well.  She never seems to get flustered or play too fast.  That tells me that she is super confident in her ability and that will translate to some great things with her teammates and coaches.  All coaches will want that kind of demeanor during tough moments to help overcome any adversity that may happen.  Her long arms create such a wonderful angle during serve receive and she has such a natural touch on the ball.  I really think she is going to have a breakout year during club and will be watching her closely to report on it.  I wouldn’t be surprised if she serve receive passed over a 2.4 for the entire season.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.
