If you followed our recent coverage of the Kansas 2029 rankings update, you’ll recognize this multi-position standout from Derby High School. Splane entered the spotlight through her strong Derby debut, which featured several impactful outings as a middle-back defender. However, we’ve also seen Splane flex her terminal ability in the front row, so don’t lock her into the libero jersey yet. Regardless of positional designation, this is a 2029 prospect with game-changing potential on first contacts.

I was impressed with the plays I saw Splane make during controlled competition. Her defensive work was key in helping her side stay in system and turn quality first contacts into strong attacks with opportunities for kills. What stood out even more was her willingness to use her voice. Splane consistently communicated with her hitters and teammates, something I didn’t see as often across the courts. That combination of defensive effort and communication can bring stability to a back row, and Splane showed she wasn’t afraid to take ownership of that role.

We’re starting with a Derby gem who brings a full array of skills to the outside hitter spot. Splane used this year’s club season to put her first-contact prowess on display with KNVBC 15 Showtime. She carried the contrasting jersey well and remained a stable passing anchor through the team’s deep Show Me Qualifier run. However, like many of Kansas’ top defenders, Splane may bring her talents to the front row on the high school side. She primarily locked down the middle-back area during her debut season with Derby. It’s an homage to her potential as an outside hitter who can dominate around the dial, and we can’t wait to see which sophomore storylines prevail.

Splane can play a few positions, but I am mentioning her in my defender group. At 5’6″, she has the size and frame to be a quality libero. She saw action last year as a freshman in a dozen sets and should see that increased in her sophomore campaign.

Derby’s Splane is another athlete who benefited in the rankings partially due to her extensive video package on HUDL. She plays under control, and like a Gold Glove middle infielder, she plays the ball and does not let the ball play her. She is ranked No. 25 overall. The film I watched was from her club season, as she saw limited varsity time last season for Derby.

Splane will be a name to search for in the aforementioned Class of 2029 rankings. She is currently ranked No. 23 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She played just 12 varsity sets for the Panthers last season. It’s a team that should return a deep and talented senior class, so she may have to wait one more season to really show off her skills, or 2026 could be a breakout season for the young hitter.

Splane is ranked No. 22 overall in the Kansas Class of 2029. The incoming Derby Freshman is a sparkplug on the court. I saw her play club ball back in December. Her “Showtime” squad plays under the Kansas Networks Volleyball Club umbrella. She showed up and showed out in that early club season match. Unfortunatley that was the only match I saw that squad play last season. She has a shot to make the varsity squad out of the gates for the Panthers.
