Dieguez showcased her versatility as a true six-rotation outside. Her serve receive and passing were steady throughout the day, but it was her attacking that set her apart. With smart shot selection and an instinct for working around and through the block, she proved to be a tough matchup. Dieguez has the polish of a much older player and should be a key piece for Derby in the years to come.

Dieguez will join the Kansas Class of 2027 rankings next month. She recorded 25 kills and nine blocks at the varsity level last season for the Panthers. I watched game film of her game from summer league action. She has a fluid swing and can elevate. I was most impressed with her blocking skills. She has solid timing at the net and a big reach to disrupt attackers. Derby lost a solid senior class to graduation, so Dieguez should be leaned on more heavily this fall. I will also give her credit for being “aggressive” in getting the attention of Prep Dig Kansas.
