Lila Schlichting Lila Schlichting 5'11" | OH Alexandria | 2029 State MN adds another offensive threat to watch in the Class 4A-Section 8 Championship, where scoring from the left pin becomes even more valuable as rallies get longer and defenses settle into their blocking assignments. Schlichting is a hitter to watch for how she handles the different attacking situations that come with playing outside, from taking an aggressive swing in system to finding solutions when the pass pulls the setter off the net. Her approach timing, ability to recognize the block, and shot selection will be important against a defense looking to take away the cross-court angle. Working high hands, attacking the seam between blockers, and using the line when it’s available can make a pin hitter difficult to defend. For Schlichting, this championship presents an opportunity to show the offensive versatility and confidence needed to produce in high-pressure situations. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Schlichting had a big day. As a 6 rotation outside, she is asked to do just about everything and without a break. As they say, there is no rest for the weary. However, she was clutch. She was solid in serve receive, hustled on off blocker defense, contributed at the net, dug balls out of the back row, and attacked and attacked and attacked repeatedly on the day. Her steady and reliable play helped her team earn yet another challenge match for tomorrow in an attempt to earn a spot into the Gold Bracket on the final day of AAU in the 15 Elite division.

Lila is a fundamentally sound, high-efficiency outside who adds value in every phase of the game. Her serve-receive platform is steady and repeatable, and her court vision offensively is among the best in the group. Lila doesn’t rely solely on power—she reads defenders, adjusts her wrist position mid-air, and consistently executes smart swings that move the defense. Her timing on the back-row attack also stood out, giving her early six-rotation upside. Lila’s consistency, IQ, and composure make her an extremely coachable and strong future prospect. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

Schlichting has a dominating swing on the outside. Whether she is swinging down the line or sharp cross, it is hard to slow her down. She has a fast approach allowing her to jump high and get on top of the ball with time to read the opposing defense. She works her shots around the blockers making her opponents move. Schlichting has great blocking footwork and timing allowing her to get many stops and touches.
