I believe she also wanted to be a hitter but like Ingrid she had some difficulty finding the court. Ultimately, her height limited her choice. Early in her career she switched to libero.

She played libero for Paramount for a number of years. Even when liberos who I thought were better skilled transferred to Paramount Lilly kept the position. This year she chose to play for Metro travel.

For National Cathedral High Lilly was a hitter and a setter. She left the libero role to her younger sister. She led her high school in assists and kills. Even at 5’5″ with an approach jump limited to 9’3″ she still found the empty areas of the court. That shows you her incredible volleyball IQ. She has played every position, except for possibly middle.

Lilly has yet to commit but if someone is looking for a player who knows every position, she’s your gal. At some point in life, she will probably make an excellent coach. Currently, she certainly would make an excellent floor leader.

Her main position is playing libero for Paramount . For National Cathedral she branches out a bit. She hits outside enough to be second on the team in kills with a .274 hitting percentage. Recently she has been utilized as a setter and ranks second in assists. Finally, she tops the team in service aces. At 5’5″ her best position may be as a libero, but no matter what position she plays her versatility impresses.

In a five set win over Flint Hill Lilly finished the game with 14 kills, 19 digs and 21 assists. Putting up those kind of numbers is a main reason why National Cathedral is 15-2-1 and sitting in second place in the Independent School League (ISL)

While she may not have the height to play front row at the higher levels her volleyball IQ is off the charts as far as finding the open areas of the court. She uses that knowledge when playing libero during the club season.

Early in her career, before she became a teen, Lilly was an outside hitter. Her growth only got her to 5’5″ so she has fit in at libero. She plays libero for Paramount , which gives her high visibility. For National Cathedral she returns to her pre-teen days and hits outside.

She actually sits second on her team in kills, but brings on her libero shoes for playing defense, ranking on top in digs. Despite the outside play, libero is her position of choice if asked to play in college. She shows great anticipation on the court and moves her feet well. She may lack the flair of other liberos because she knows where to play on defense, limiting her need to have to dive for the ball.
