Burns plays all six spots for 17 Blue but mainly the front row for Ryle. Her goal is to improve on defense to play all six spots for the Raiders her senior year. Burns gives everything she has every play. She takes solid crosses to the front, middle and back row. On defense, Burns reaches out trying to dig up balls. Burns said she tries to keep her teammates’ energy up, stay calm and perform to high standards.

She was the definition of this day; she was ready at every opportunity. Competes with an edge that’s admirable and wanted in every athlete and teammate. She hustled during every drill, which allowed us to see her backrow passing and digging ability, always consistent, and kept the ball in play. As a hitter, she possesses good footwork and adjustability, making plays at every turn. When she doesn’t think she can, she hits it with a power that makes the defense think twice. Very skilled and willed!

The lefty gives opponents something extra to consider with her unique hitting angles. Burns has good size and uses her vertical jump to hit balls over and around blockers. Burns made quick adjustments after blocked balls trying to send them to different parts of the court. Her crosses made a big difference in the Ryle win. Burns also keeps opponents out of system with a powerful jump serve. Burns said she tries to hit her shots, noting power and fundamentals make more of a difference than size.

Burns has emerged to lead the Raiders in kills this season. Her versatility at outside hitter, middle blocker and defensive specialist have been valuable to Ryle this fall. Burns has great timing on her blocks and produces well on crosses. Burns does a good job making things happen out of system.

Burns recorded some big blocks in the loss for the Raiders. She has good form on them and has shown the potential to turn into a nice all-around players for the Raiders. Burns will get better as the season goes on.
