Kinney is as versatile as they come in this class. Kinney uses her athleticism to the best of her ability. She sees things on the court and makes the necessary adjustments. Kinney uses a solid platform to make crisp two to three-point passes. During high school ball, Kinney also takes a lot of great swings from the front and back row. Knoxville Catholic can count on her to make plays in clutch situations. Kinney is also a sound server. Kinney had 274 kills, 65 aces and 206 digs in the fall, helping the Fighting Irish go 25-10 and finish fourth in the Division II-AA State Tournament.

Kinney (pictured) just plays defensive specialist/libero at K2 where she’ll play at Vanderbilt, but is also a six-rotation outside hitter for Knoxville Catholic. Knoxville Catholic head coach Brent Carter said what makes the athletically gifted Kinney special is her ability to learn on the fly and use that as an advantage against opponents. She swings from all six spots on the court. Carter said any ball hit near her on defense or serve receive turns into a two to three-point passe on a three-point scale setting up the offense.

Kinney is committed to Vanderbilt for big reasons. She’s athletically gifted and the Knoxville Catholic staff does what is needed to put her in position to succeed. Her setters hit the top of her peak consistently and she rises high above the net to smack balls to different parts of the court. Kinney takes big swings at all six positions on the court. Kinney is especially effective on pipe plays. Kinney mixes in tips to the middle of the floor to surprise defenders and is a sound passer.
