Shelby is as the tenth-best outside hitter and 26th overall, but has been playing on the right for her club team Houston Skyline 16 Royal – she’s a pin hitter with high school side Friendswood. She’s extremely technical and athletic and continues to develop her offense, adding new elements to her game and limiting her errors. Shelby has the potential to carry any team’s offense with her game as she’s becoming more and more consistent and handles pressure well. The right side hitter also reads well opponents when blocking and does a good job of getting in their way.

Shelby’s offensive power helped her team Houston Skyline 16 Royal triumph in the 17s division. A right side hitter with incredible physical tools, she used her offensive range and firepower to play a major role in the team’s offense. Shelby was extremely productive for her team and has been, season after season, doing a great job in terms of adding new weapons to her arsenal while also limiting her errors. She also spent some time playing as an outside hitter and was solid with her passing.

Friendswood’s strongest offensive player, Shelby had an excellent performance, carrying the team’s scoring with 27 kills and always providing an effective attacking option to her team. She was nearly unstoppable when in system as, besides using her reach well to overcome opposing blockers, she also displayed a very good shot selection, making very few errors considering her high usage rate. Shelby was also very efficient when hitting from the middle back position and that’s becoming one of her strongest plays. She also contributed in several other areas, getting two aces, five blocks and ten digs in big moments and passing well for the vast majority of the game.

I first watched Shelby in a match during the high school season and the fact that she stood out in a strong Friendswood team indicated there was something special with her game. During the club season, she moved from outside hitter to right side and that change has made her game even stronger as it not only placed her in a better position to make the most of her offense, but also limited her passing responsibilities. Shelby is very athletic, getting off the floor well and hitting with tremendous power, and plays with a lot of confidence at the net, going up against big blockers. She’s also a very productive blocker, who knows how to get in the way of opposing hitters.
