Expert Analysis
Bob Abels | Prep Dig Scout
Olivia first came to us at the frosh showcase. She fell short of winning the top performer award. My next exposure to her was watching her play in a high school match against us. She started left side for the Yorktown varsity, proving difficult to stop. Her listed height of 5’10” is a good size for a pin hitter. While she hits the ball well now she needs to work on enhancing her 9’3″ approach jump. to compete at the higher levels.
She put some balls away at the Stock up Showcase that impressed. That easily put her in the top performer category. She currently ranks number 59 in our class of 2028. When playing back row she creates a solid platform allowing her to play six rotations. It appears she is taking the next step to become an elite player.

Last year she started for Yorktown as a frosh hitting left side. Since you are playing against older players at the high school level maintaining success is always a challenge. With Virginia Elite she stands out as their top left side. Standing 5’10” she brings the height to the position. With a little more physical training she can enhance that 9’3″ approach jump.
Virginia Elite has done well in the local tournaments. When playing at the Open level in national tournaments they have struggled. While the Shamrock Showdown qualifies as a local tournament it brings teams from the Old Dominion Region so it falls in between.

Although I watched her play a little at Yorktown and some at the Prep Dig frosh showcase, a more complete picture of her game will be captured once club season starts. She will compete against players in her age group in a game environment.
She stands 5’10 with an approach jump at 9’3″. While that sits third on her team, she will need to enhance that number if she wants to play at the elite level. She has the athleticism and strength to drive balls to the floor. Looking forward to seeing her take the next step.
Olivia will play for Virginia Elite this year.

At 5’10” Olivia has some good height for an outside. She impressed when she played for Yorktown. At the August frosh showcase she stood out for her hard driven spikes. An athletic player who can only improve as she gains experience.
Olivia will play for Virginia Elite this year. While she is not yet ranked among our class of 2028 that will change when rankings are updated in January. She has the chance to be an impact player.
