Olivia Cha walked away from UA Next with a clearer understanding of the opportunities that come from being prepared when they appear.

Serving, defense, and communication were the areas that gave her the most confidence during camp. Those skills allowed her to compete aggressively while continuing to bring energy to the athletes around her.

One area that has taken a noticeable step forward this season is her out-of-system setting. Olivia specifically pointed to her ability to set with her hands more consistently, something that became evident during camp drills. For a libero, that development creates additional value and expands the number of ways she can impact a match.

Interestingly, the camp moment she highlighted had nothing to do with volleyball itself. Meeting new athletes, building relationships, and stepping outside her comfort zone was what made her most proud. That willingness to connect with others is often a reflection of confidence too.

UA Next taught Olivia the importance of taking advantage of every opportunity. Higher levels reward athletes who are willing to show themselves, compete aggressively, and trust their preparation.

As she prepares for future opportunities, Olivia is focused on strengthening her serve receive while continuing to build confidence in every aspect of her game. Her mindset suggests she understands that development is not about mastering one skill. It is about continuing to grow across all areas.

Outside the gym, her love for singing and reading Lois Lowry highlights creativity and focus, traits that often show up in adaptable defensive players.

Olivia is taking charge of the back row and practicing volume with purpose so new teammates trust her calls. She used the showcase to speak up with people she had never met and to keep communication loud from first drill to last point. “I want them to remember me as a loud person.” Her multi-sport background fuels her agility and willingness to compete in any station.

Fun fact: She has played tennis, badminton, figure skating, taekwondo, archery, and more.
