When scouting Pollack, consistency can be expected. She’s fundamentally sound with a knack for delivering the smart play. I saw that last club season, at the state tournament and again earlier this club campaign. Pollock ran the show for a CIA 17 Black outfit that picked up a Freedom Division bid to this summer’s USAV national tournament with its play at the Iowa regional tournament earlier this month. A fluid conduit between the back-row pass and the team’s potent attack, and a good athlete with a high volleyball IQ, Pollock moves smoothly around the court and gets into position for the pass. Vision and a good feel for match flow aids in delivering the ball to attackers with the best chance to put it down. It also helps in picking the proper times to dump the ball over the net. Pollock holds up well defensively in the back row and can throw up an effective block.

The junior setter from Janesville had quite a run where her team advanced to the final four of the Class 1A state tournament. She brings athleticism and a smooth style of play where she is well trained and fundamentally sound with her feet and hands. She is looking to push the tempo whenever she can to her middles and can hold the opposing middle blocker to set up a favorable matchup for her pin.

I’ve scouted Pollock on the club circuit the last few years. Her development has had a nice trajectory to it. Pollock stands out for her steadiness. She limits unforced errors and holds her focus throughout matches. Pollock also has experienced a great deal of success on the prep level. During Janesville’s first 81 sets this season, she was responsible for 627 assists, 30 kills and 140 digs. Pollock has improved on adjusting to overpasses and odd balls near the net, including a knack for winning jousts and exploiting holes in the defense with dumps. A solid defender in the back, Pollock helps squelch opponent attacks and puts her team back on the offensive.

Janesville reached the state semifinals last fall with Pollock dishing out 801 assists and adding 182 digs as a sophomore. She’s transferred that success over to this club season with a sound CIA team. The group finished fifth in the Iowa Region’s 16U Division. Pollock is a steady hand at the setter spot. She consistently puts the ball where her attackers can swing away. Pollock is a good athlete, which helps her defend in the back row or at the net. She can attack when the opportunity arises and sees the court well enough to expose holes in the defense.
