Theresa Hickman | Prep Dig Scout
Reagan Barrett played with pace and urgency that kept her constantly in the play. She was quick in transition, accelerating into her approach and getting up fast, which allowed her to beat blockers to the spot. Offensively, she showed the ability to adjust mid-air and still deliver a clean swing, especially on off-tempo sets. Her blocking stood out in moments—she read the setter well and closed hard to take away angles. There’s a competitive edge in how she plays, and it shows in extended rallies. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas
Why she was a standout: her speed and ability to stay effective in fast, unpredictable sequences separated her.

Reagan Barrett operated with disciplined footwork and stayed available in transition. She was aggressive in calling for the ball and created opportunities through her movement, not by waiting for the play. Her ability to stay balanced into her approach and adjust to the block gave her more usable swings across sequences.

When she played for Maryland Jrs 14 hitting right side she was just an after thought. My first comment about her was “she plays right side for a loaded Maryland Juniors 14 team. It would not surprise of her ability to hit left side.” Consider that statement accurate.
Hitting left side she consistently puts balls away. Rarely does she get blocked or dug. She brings that long whip like arm action that generates velocity on the ball after it is hit. Whether she hits from the back row or front row her ball is tough to dig.
She debuted in our rankings at 38, dropped to 42 then shot up again to 23 in this ranking period after her ability to terminate from the left side. While her back row play could use some improvement it is still better than many who play the position.
Don’t be surprised to see her game improve even more now that she has become one of Maryland Juniors main offensive weapons rather than just a spoke in the wheel. Now, she has become the wheel.

Reagan is also fairly new to volleyball, entering her third year of playing club. When you are 6’1 and athletic some things come easy to you.
Last year Reagan played right side for Maryland Juniors, normally playing just three rotations. This year she has moved to left side and stays in for six rotations. She appears to have a smooth and easy delivery to her spikes bringing good velocity to her hits.
While she plays a year down from her grade her age is equal to those playing on the 15 team.

Reagan is one of the hold overs from last year’s very talented 14s team that lost a bunch of talented players, but sometimes when players leave, it creates a chance for another star to rise. That’s what we are watching here with Reagan. She’s got height, she moves well for her size, and plays defense well enough to play all around. She stood out enough at the net with some big hits and strong blocks. Everything you’d expect from a girl over 6 foot tall in 15s, but where she really impressed me was watching her bury a back row kill with perfect form late in a tie game. She plays with heart, and with a little chip on her shoulder. That motivation is great for young athletes, I’m all in on this one.

She hits right side for a loaded Maryland Jrs. 14U team. It would not surprise me of her ability to hit left side. At the Junior Nationals in Dallas she calmly buried a couple balls from the left side when the team was in serve receive rotation 1. While the Maryland Jrs 14 team relies on their left sides for offense Reagan consistently puts her share of balls away when set on the right side.
Ideally, she should play at the 16U level next year. That is the prime recruiting age at qualifiers. Most college coaches focus on that age group as they prepare for their next recruiting class. If she plays again at the 15 level she will miss one year of recruiting opportunity.
Reagan debuts at number 38 in our class of 2028, She plays at a smaller high school, Notre Dame Prepatory. While I have not seen her play back row I’m pretty certain she would be a six rotation player at her high school. For Maryland Jrs she is restricted to three rotations.
