The versatile Animashaun will help Houston Skyline 18 Royal as they battle in the 18 Open division. A setter with her high school team St. John’s, she’s been playing as a pin hitter during the club season and her skill set transitioned extremely well to the position. Animashaun is obviously very technical, but she’s also extremely athletic and can jump as high as anyone on the court. She makes contact with the ball at a very high point and is always excellent with her decision-making, scoring at a great rate while making very few mistakes. She also passes, blocks and plays defense at a very high level.

After spending the last high school season as a setter with St. John’s, Animashaun lined up as an outside hitter with Houston Skyline 18 Royal and contributed to the team’s triumph in the 18s division. A player that masters every skill of the game, she did a very good job at the pin and provided her teammates with what they needed to succeed in the division. Animashaun was outstanding at the net, getting off the floor well, making good offensive decisions and swinging hard. She was also very clean on the backcourt, passing and playing defense at a high level.

St. John’s push to play in the golden bracket championship game wouldn’t have been possible without Animashuan steering the ship for the Mavericks. The all-around setter stood out among the players in the position with her very complete and efficient game. Her playmaking was excellent and she made the most of the offensively-talented group of hitters she had to work with by combining creativity and precision in every play she orchestrated. Animashaun was also important for St. John’s offensively and contributed with good defensive plays and solid blocking.

An incredibly athletic and talented player, Animashaun is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the Houston area. Setting for a strong group of hitters at St. John’s, she does a great job of placing them in good positions to score with her quick release, precise locations and smart distribution. She’s a truly complete player, who blocks and plays defense at a very high level, but her offense is next level. Animashaun gets off the floor really well, can hit from the left and the right and has a cannon of a right arm, as well as excellent shot selection.

St. John’s top player had a good performance in a match in which the team struggled, extrapolating her role as a setter and helping in several other ways. Her offensive strategy was disrupted by her team’s passing issues, but Animashaun did a very good job of using her physical tools to get to imperfect passes, be it jumping at the net to get to tight ones or quickly moving on the court to get to those who went off the net. She also took over hitting duties in some difficult moments, producing well at the net, and also got points with her agressive blocking and smart serving, besides getting quite a few touches on defense.
