Chase was one of the setters with the HJV 16 Elite team that dominated the event, finishing first with three wins and no sets lost. She did a very good job with her distribution, keeping all her hitters involved and adding a touch of creativity to their offensive system. With HJV Elite clearly being the strongest team in the event, Chase had an important role, keeping the team in a strong rhythm even if the competition didn’t truly challenge them during the day. The setter also stood out in the back row, serving efficiently and playing solid defense.

Macie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because I have not released them yet. She plays volleyball at St. Johns High School and plays club for the Houston Juniors volleyball program. There is a lot to like about Miss Chase’s game. She is a taller setter who can easily play all the way around and never come off of the court due to her being able to battle opposing hitters at the net. HJV uses her in a 5-1 quite a bit and she rises to the challenge each time. Her fast footwork allow her to move about the court with ease and be able to track down every pass with great posture. By using her in a 5-1 offense, this allows for there to be no breakdown with timing for each hitter as they have some consistency with the delivery of the ball. Macie also uses her jump set well and creates a lot of one on ones or splits in the block by being a threat to send the ball over on two contacts. As she continues to improve her game and move the ball around to her middles, she will definitely have college coaches writing her name down on their lists.

Chase led her HJV 15 Elite team to a fifth-place finish in the division, with four wins and three losses. A tall setter, she did a great job with her ball distribution and potentialized the offensive power of her team. Chase shared the ball very well between her hitters and frequently moved them around when in system, giving them the edge over scrambling opposing blockers. The setter also contributed with great production on defense and did an excellent job of communicating with her teammates between points.

Chase was one of the most talented freshmen to emerge in the private high school scene in Houston this season, earning significant playing time with a strong St. John’s team. At 5’10” and growing, she has an interesting size to play the position and is definitely not vulnerable at the net. Chase also displays solid technical skills, with a quick release and excellent ball control. She’s very quick to get to the ball and does a great job of turning out-of-system passes into hittable sets.
