We shouldn’t be surprised to see Guardian Angels Central Catholic on this feature. The Bluejays have been a fixture in the postseason picture for the past few years, and athletes like Wegner deserve a lot of credit for this consistency. GACC’s lineup is loaded with high-impact 2028s, but Wegner has become one of the key exceptions from the 2029 pack. This sophomore libero makes decisive reads on tip shots and can deliver perfect transition digs to the setter. Wegner isn’t satisfied with merely racking up numbers. Her contacts lead to instant offensive success.

Like Canales, Wegner’s incredible backcourt efforts lifted her small-town team to Nebraska’s biggest high school stage. Guardian Angels Central Catholic deployed their first-year gem in the back row and received an impressive 4.3 digs per set. Wegner meshed well with her fellow passers, many of whom were also underclassman standouts in the Bluejay lineup. GACC reestablished itself as one of Class D1’s top contenders and will likely be a championship favorite in 2026. Wegner will see plenty more of the spotlight.
