About Roman

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a fast-paced setter who helps our team play with tempo while staying controlled and accurate. I focus on communication and trust, reading the opposing defense to put our hitters in the best positions to succeed. I stay fully engaged defensively, contribute in the back row, and bring consistent energy to every play to help our team win.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I bring positive energy while staying focused and composed, and I take pride in encouraging and lifting up my teammates, especially in tough moments. As a setter, I lead through communication, effort, and attitude, keeping the team connected and confident. I’m competitive, coachable, and resilient, and I respond to challenges by bringing even more energy every play.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society, reflecting my commitment to strong academics, character, leadership, and service. Through volunteering and community service, I’ve learned responsibility and teamwork, and I take pride in carrying the same discipline and work ethic from the classroom onto the court.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volleyball, academics, and community service, I’ve developed leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. As a setter, I focus on communication and supporting my teammates, and through volunteering with Help Now AZ, St. Mary’s Food Bank, and local community schools, I’ve learned empathy, accountability, and the importance of working together toward a shared goal.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been starting club volleyball later and being one of the younger players in my age group. This pushes me to work hard, stay patient, and commit to constant improvement, helping me build resilience, confidence, and a strong work ethic that motivates me to train and compete every day.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that offers strong academic programs and a competitive volleyball environment where I can continue to grow as an athlete. I’m especially interested in a school that supports students pursuing a medical degree, values hard work and balance, and encourages leadership, discipline, and personal development both on and off the court.
