About Sierra

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Our gameplay style is quick tempo'd and strategic. We run a strong offense that keeps everyone involved ready to attack, even from the back row. We have a "No Ball Drops" mentality. We dive for everything, even if it's in the stands. We bring tons of energy and passion to the table, that ultimately brings the team together.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is always positive. My teammates rely on me to be the steady rock. It doesn't matter if it's practice or a game, I lead by example, giving 110% at all times.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a part of National Charity League and Student Council, where I hold leadership positions within the organizations. I volunteer on my available weekends within the community: Beach Clean-up, Bridge of Hope, and Charitable Thrift Shops just to name a few.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed social and problem solving skills to work as an event coordinator and product developer. These skills transition to my volleyball experience by helping me be a leader, on and off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Well, my first two seasons of volleyball I didn't play a lot. I was the team cheerleader! I whole heartedly wanted to be a setter, but kept getting pushed out of the position because frankly some of my teammates were better. I had a coach tell me that setting was my weakest skill. I worked extremely hard for 2 years. Finally when I entered 13s, I earned a starting setter position.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that provides great athletics, academics, and has amazing school spirit. It needs to have a great business program, because one day I hope to run my own business. College for me should be like a second home. It should have a welcoming and relaxing environment on campus. However, being within or near a big city would be nice for me to explore.
